Peterson Pump & Plumbing - 301-656-6195. "He knows all about the water pressure pumps at Fallstone. The other plumber I had looking at it had NO idea what he was doing. Many plumbers have never worked on them. Carl Peterson was very familiar with them."

Leahy Plumbing & Heating - 301-652-0478.  "I was very pleased today with service from a company recommended to me by my neighbors.  This same company was also used by other owners at Fallstone.  When I called for help, the owner answered the phone. The person who came to my house was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and helpful. My new water power booster is in place.

John Gasparis - 703-931-5301.  "He has pulled down wallpaper and painted two kitchens for me and will do interior and exterior painting. He is the kind of guy you can give your key to and know that you don't have to worry about him being alone in your house. He is an honest and decent guy."

Carpet Cleaning, Jimmy Stallings - 571-344-0281.  "Jimmy checked and treated any dampness behind the wall and he treated and cleaned the carpeting. Jimmy also refinishes and installs hardwood floors. Another good, honest and reliable resource."

Jorge Barrera  - "I used him to re-grout and caulk 3 bathrooms for $150, plus he repaired/sanded and painted about 10 nail pops, plus a few ceiling cracks for an additional $50. He did a phenomenal job.  He does interior/exterior painting, drywall/finishing and power washing.  He's been in business 18 years."

"I had the side of my house sealed with a synthetic material that looks almost exactly the same as the painted wood. Only now I never have to worry about painting or wood rot! Eric Katchmark gave me a great price and the customer service people were excellent. They also repaired a nagging small roof leak that other contractors wouldn't commit to fixing even after quoting me $1,000 to repair. I also know of 2 other owners who've sealed their wood and are very pleased with the work Katchmark did. If you don't want to deal with wood again use these guys!"

One word of caution: If not done properly, power washing of brick may damage the mortar. Consequently, some homeowners prefer a kinder, gentler approach to brick cleaning by using a mixture of bleach and water and applying to the brick with a stiff brush. For flat surfaces like the landing on the front stoop, it is recommended using the mixture on the brick and letting it stand a bit before brushing. Do not, however, get the mixture on the shrubbery.

Online Montgomery Service is now available. Buy Ride-On and Metrobus passes, get maps, directions, informationn on recreation classes. The Community Outreach program of the County's Department of Public Works and Transportation has published an updated version of its popular 'Resident's Guide to
Services.' This useful brochure lists more than 85 of the services offered by the department. From potholes to streetlights, bus shelters to bikeways, you'll find useful telephone numbers and email addresses that let you get right to the office responsible for handling your public works issue.
